Fowler stepping down

Dr. Julie Fowler will be stepping down as Abbeville County School District Superintendent, it was announced at the close of the Abbeville County School District Board of Trustees meeting on the evening of Tuesday, June 23.

Fowler took over as Superintendent last year following the death of then-Superintendent Dr. Betty Jo Hall.

The board, according to reports, is expected to try to find an interim superintendent by August.

Fowler helped guide the School District through a truly extraordinary year, when schools were closed in mid-March, and stayed closed through the end of the academic year, all because of the coronavirus pandemic.
