Graduation programs slated for Dixie, AHS

Dixie and Abbeville high schools will be having graduation programs after all, in their high school stadiums at the end of May, with social distancing being maintained, Abbeville County School District Superintendent Dr. Julie Fowler said Tuesday.

"We are pleased to be able to hold graduation in our high school football stadiums while adhering to the Governor's Executive Orders to maintain social distancing," she said.

"We will have to limit the number of guests per family but we are happy to announce that WCTel is partnering with us to livestream the events for those who cannot attend.

"DHS will graduate on Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 PM with a rain date of Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 AM. AHS will graduate on Friday, May 29 at 7:00 PM with a rain date of Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 PM. We will also hold our Adult Education graduation with a date to be determined in the near future.

"High schools will be sending out detailed information in the coming weeks."

Calhoun Falls Charter principal Kalan Rogers has said graduation plans for the Charter School are still being finalized.

Graduation for the Class of 2020 has been in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the highly contagious coronavirus.
