Abbeville Police probe recent shooting

Abbeville Police are investigating a shooting that occurred last Thursday night on Adams Drive, according to a Police incident report.


According to the report, officers received a call "in reference to the sound of gunshots, people screaming and cars leaving the area of Adams Drive."


Officers blocked off the area of Adams Drive where the caller said they heard the sounds, the report continued.


Abbeville County Sheriff's Office deputies assisted them in the process.


Shortly thereafter, in response to a notification from dispatch about a stolen Honda automobile, officers began to investigate a Honda parked on Adams Drive, the report continued.


"Upon doing so, officers walked around to the passenger side of the vehicle and found multiple pieces of property scattered along the side of the road and in the yard," the report stated.


"Officers then observed what appeared to be fresh bullet holes throughout the passenger side of the vehicle along with broken out windows and a bloody hand-print. Officers then located what appeared to be blood droplets along the passenger side of the vehicle. Officers then began to look for spent shell casings and a possible victim, suspect and witnesses."


One individual was shot in the arm, with non life threatening injuries, according to the Police.


The incident is still under investigation.
