Suicide awareness event set in Ware Shoals

There will be a suicide awareness program on the Town Square in Ware Shoals on Friday, June 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to Fred West of Donalds.

The event is being presented by friends and family of a young man who committed suicide at Ware Shoals High School several weeks ago.

There will be speakers, and there will be a blood mobile, and a raffle. The speakers will include friends of the family.

“We’re selling wrist bands,” he said.

The proceeds from the event will be given to the young man’s family to help defray funeral expenses.

Hot dogs will be sold, and the raffle gifts will include a gas grill, a chartered fishing trip, and gift certificates from a number of local restaurants, West continued.

“We’ll be taking donations at the event,” he added.

For more information, one may contact Stephanie West at 864-344-9427.
