Trump boat parade set for Lake Secession

There will be a Trump boat parade at Lake Secession on Saturday, Sept. 5, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Lake Secession dam.

The purpose of the parade is to show support for President Trump and other Republican candidates, running statewide and locally, in the general election in November.

The theme is "Flood the GATE (Great American Trump Excursion)" on Lake Secession.

The event is being organized by some local Trump supporters.

Bryan Ferguson, who lives on Lake Secession, is one of the organizers of the parade. "We're going to gather at the dam, and then at 3:30 p.m. we're going to parade to Jet's Landing, where there's live music from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. provided by Songwriters Live," Ferguson said.

State Sen. District 10 candidate Billy Garrett is expected to be on hand, he added.

Ferguson is estimating that as many as 50 to 75 boats, judging from a Facebook event post, will show up.

"Everybody come out and have a fun day at the lake," he said. "It's kind of like the Fourth of July all over again."

For more information, one may call Ferguson at 378-4261.

Similar Trump boat parades have been held elsewhere, most notably a boat parade recently staged at Strom Thurmond (Clarks Hill) Lake.
